BOOM! BOOM! It took a few seconds for Asia to come to the door. I gave her a few days to calm down and since the party is tomorrow, I wanted to make sure we were good.

“I don’t want any.” Asia said to me from her front window.

“Open up.”

“Whatever you’re selling, I’m sure is contaminated.” She was being smart.

“You have ten seconds to open up or I’ll kick this bitch in.”

“It’s the audacity for me.” She walked away. I’m thinking she’s about to open the door, but a few minutes went by. Soon as my foot lifted to kick it, she opened it with a mini bag of popcorn in her hand.

“How can I help you?”

“Who over here?” She laughed as I checked her entire house, top to bottom.

“My husband.” The door closed.

“Don’t play games with me.” Asia walked in the living room.

“Oh, like you’ve done to me. How could you not mention being married? When the other bitch told me, I thought she was lying because I whooped her ass, but she wasn’t.”

“What bitch?” I sat on the other couch.

“This bitch from the club. Why Diego?” She tossed the remote at me.

“Asia, it’s not what you think.”

“Is she your wife? Matter of fact, are you fucking your wife?”

“Yes.” There wasn’t a need to lie. My mother always instilled telling the truth regardless of how it may hurt the other person.

“Why you have me get checked and threaten me about being with someone else; knowing the whole time you’re married?”

“To be honest, I don’t know. It’s something about you that I’ve never encountered with any other woman. Shit, I told you about my chicken incident in the shower and no one knows, not even my brother.”

“Am I supposed to feel happy you confided in me?” She rolled her eyes walking past me to the kitchen.

“Asia, listen.”

“No, you listen Diego.” She turned the water on to wash her hands.

“This is why I wasn’t with anyone because men can’t tell the truth.” I stayed quiet.

“I pride myself on not being a homewrecker and sadly, you put me in that exact position to be one without my permission.” Judging by her voice, I could tell how upset she was becoming. We’ve been messing around for about two months, and we’ve become close.

Tez and I had business to handle so he pushed the memorial party back a couple of months. Whenever I had time, she’s right, we were together.

“How can I fall for another woman’s man?”

“Asia—”

“I don’t want to hear you don’t love her or any other excuse. I don’t care. What I care about is us sleeping together unprotected when you’re with someone else. You know how I feel about that.” She explained her ex being on the downlow and scaring her into racing to the emergency room to be tested. He did give her gonorrhea which is bad enough.

“Carmen ain’t sleeping with no one but me.”

“Oh, her name is Carmen. You have no idea what she’s doing there.”

“I have eyes on her, the same way I have eyes on you.
